Beau Roberts (2000) is a British artist living and working in London.
For Beau, the experience of painting is a continued mystery and an act of discovery. His work is not literal, remaining open to something unplanned that challenges perceptions of the ordinary. Emotion is expressed through his vibrant use of colour and shifting forms. Colour becomes a way of recording a response rather than describing reality, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own relationship to reality and underlying residual energy.
Beau creates oil paintings exploring his personal experience in the natural world. His experience of nature compels him to paint it, and the act of painting becomes a way of responding to that experience. His still lifes and figures are drawn from the people, objects and spaces closest to him, shaped by familiarity and memory.
